Enrollment Analysis: African American students comprised 10.4% of Teague ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 127 African American students enrolled in Teague ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 6.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Teague ISD schools welcomed 1,216 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 10.4% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Teague ISD roughly covers schools within Freestone County and has a main office in Teague.

Among the four schools in Teague ISD schools, Teague Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 48 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
