Enrollment Analysis: Hispanic students comprised 6.9% of Slocum ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 24 Hispanic students enrolled in Slocum ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 22.6% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Slocum ISD schools welcomed 349 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 6.9% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Slocum ISD roughly covers schools within Anderson County and has a main office in Elkhart.

Among the two schools in Slocum ISD schools, Slocum PK - 8 recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 17 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
