There were 1,414 students enrolled in Westwood ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 6.2% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Westwood ISD students was white, accounting for 45.8% of the student population.

Westwood ISD roughly covers schools within Anderson County with its main office in Palestine.

Among the four schools in Westwood ISD, Westwood High School recorded the highest enrollment of 438 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
