The U.S. Department of Education recently awarded approximately $12 million in Title I grants for Central and South Texas school districts.

The grants are meant to assist in providing a high-quality education for children from financially and socially disadvantaged backgrounds, according to U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-Texas). Grant amounts ranged from $17,917 awarded to Ramirez ISD to $1.89 million awarded to Seguin ISD.

“Students in the 15th District of Texas deserve the highest quality education we can offer them, even in the midst of a pandemic,” Gonzalez said. “Teachers and school administrators work tirelessly to make sure students are learning, whether it’s virtually or in person.  These federal funds will help those school districts tackle the new challenges that arise every day and make sure their students have a successful school year.”
