There were 1,864 students enrolled in Mexia ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, a slight increase compared to the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.7% of them were boys, and 47.3% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 52.1% of the Mexia ISD total enrollment.

Mexia ISD roughly covers schools within Limestone County with its main office in Mexia.

Among the five schools in Mexia ISD, Mexia High School recorded the highest enrollment of 553 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
