There were 1,856 students enrolled in Mexia ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 0.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 53.1% of them were boys, and 46.9% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 51.2% of the Mexia ISD total enrollment.

Mexia ISD roughly covers schools within Limestone County with its main office in Mexia.

Among the five schools in Mexia ISD, A. B. McBay Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 539 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
