Congressman Ellzey Statement on Defense Appropriations Bill
The Fiscal Year 2024 Defense Appropriations bill funds agencies and programs under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community, including the Military Services, Central Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Agency. For Fiscal Year 2024, which begins October 1, the bill provides $826.45 billion in new discretionary spending, which is $285.87 million over the President’s Budget Request and $28.71 billion – or 3.6% – over the FY23 enacted level.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The brief supports the Biden administration’s appeal of the Northern District of Texas ruling that suspends the FDA’s approval of mifepristone, a medication used in abortion care and miscarriage treatment, originally approved for use more than 20 years ago.

On April 13, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) released the following statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit granted a partial stay of the district court’s order in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Mifepristone is a safe and effective medication used in abortion care, including miscarriage treatment, originally approved for use more than 20 years ago. It is used in more than half of all abortions in states where abortion remains legal.
