Palestine Independent School District (ISD) Superintendent Jason Marshall's base salary is one-third higher than the median salary for district superintendents in East Texas.
On Thursday, Congressman Ellzey joined his fellow members in filing a Resolution condemning the actions of the New Mexico Governor.

The National Defense Authorization Act authorizes $886.3 billion for national defense, funds over $2 billion in service chief and combatant commander priorities left unfunded by the President’s budget, and saves the taxpayer $40 billion on current defense spending levels.
The Fiscal Year 2024 Defense Appropriations bill funds agencies and programs under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community, including the Military Services, Central Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Agency. For Fiscal Year 2024, which begins October 1, the bill provides $826.45 billion in new discretionary spending, which is $285.87 million over the President’s Budget Request and $28.71 billion – or 3.6% – over the FY23 enacted level.
"Republicans control one-half of one-third of the federal government. Today, we cut federal spending by 2 trillion dollars," said Ellzey. "We put an end to the President's proposed 5 trillion dollars in new taxes, we cut wasteful spending within the federal government, we reversed the President's student loan repayment giveaway, and we cut 400 million dollars from the Centers For Disease Control (CDC). We ensure support for our veterans is fully funded, including care for veterans exposed to toxins during their military service. The Fiscal Responsibility Act lays a pathway to balancing our budget, getting federal government spending in check, and puts limits on federal bureaucrats’ rulemaking authority."
On May 24, Representatives Jake Ellzey (R-TX), David Trone (D-MD), and Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) introduced legislation directing the Federal Aviation Administration to require opioid overdose medication to be carried on all airplanes.

Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) joined 239 other Democratic members of Congress in submitting an amicus brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in the case of Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The brief supports the Biden administration’s appeal of the Northern District of Texas ruling that suspends the FDA’s approval of mifepristone, a medication used in abortion care and miscarriage treatment, originally approved for use more than 20 years ago.

Without passing reauthorization legislation, federal funding for Community Health Centers and the National Health Service Corps is set to expire this year.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Mifepristone is a safe and effective medication used in abortion care, including miscarriage treatment, originally approved for use more than 20 years ago. It is used in more than half of all abortions in states where abortion remains legal.
On April 10, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) and Congressman Pat Ryan (NY-18) introduced the Protecting Reproductive Freedom Act, to reaffirm that Mifepristone, also known as the abortion pill, was appropriately approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and that this approval preempts any state law seeking to prohibit or restrict access to the abortion pill.
Congressman Jake Ellzey is hosting a Meet & Greet in Mansfield, Texas, on April 21. Mansfield remains in Congressional House District TX-06 after redistricting took effect in January 2023.
