Congressman Jake Ellzey has announced his support for the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act, joining forces with Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) and Congressman Nathaniel Moran (R-TX). This legislation aims to shield middle-class families and small businesses from what is perceived as excessive IRS audits.
The bill seeks to prevent the IRS from utilizing remaining funds from the Biden Administration's $80 billion budget allocation for increased enforcement actions against American taxpayers. Instead, it focuses on preserving resources to enhance customer service and modernize outdated IT systems within the IRS.
"As a former small business owner, I know how difficult it can be to make a living. Over-regulation doesn't help American business owners; it hurts them. The federal government shouldn't be working to make it more difficult to make a dollar," said Congressman Ellzey. "And that is why I sponsored this bill. Once passed, the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act will rein in IRS overreach and protect taxpayers from unnecessary audits while ensuring the agency focuses on serving Americans. Families and small businesses shouldn't have to fear being unfairly targeted by their own government."
The proposed legislation has garnered strong backing from various members of Congress, including Reps. Don Bacon (R-NE), Mike Bost (R-IL), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Kat Cammack (R-FL), Ben Cline (R-VA), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), Ron Estes (R-KS), Randy Feenstra (R-IA), Brad Finstad (R-MN), Glenn Grothman (R-WI), Richard Hudson (R-NC), Maria Salazar (R-FL), Claudia Tenney (R-NY), and Beth Van Duyne (R-TX).
Congressman Ellzey remains committed to ensuring that the federal government operates in favor of its citizens rather than against them, emphasizing his dedication to protecting hardworking families and small businesses across Texas.
