The responsibility of each House of Congress to "judge the Elections, Returns, and Qualifications of its own Members" was highlighted in 2020 when Democrats attempted to overturn the certified results of an Iowa congressional race. This context underscores the importance of the Election Observer Program, which deploys congressional observers to polling locations nationwide. The program aims to collect real-time data that can assist in election disputes and seating challenges.

House Administration Republicans consider this initiative crucial for promoting election integrity and rebuilding public confidence in the voting process. Participation is voluntary for House staff members, but mandatory training is required.

Congressman Jake Ellzey expressed gratitude towards his staff who volunteered for the program. “Elections have consequences, and there are few elections as consequential as the one taking place this November,” said Ellzey. His staff will be deployed across New Mexico’s 2nd district, Michigan's 13th, and Connecticut's 5th—races currently within the margin of error—to ensure every vote is counted.

Ellzey emphasized voter rights: “Whoever you vote for, as a citizen of the United States, you have a right to have the vote count, and we have a duty to ensure that it does." He thanked volunteers dedicated to ensuring safe and fair elections.
