There were 349 students enrolled in Slocum ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.3% of them were girls, and 46.7% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 89.4% of the Slocum ISD total enrollment.

Slocum ISD roughly covers schools within Anderson County with its main office in Elkhart.

Among the two schools in Slocum ISD, Slocum PK - 8 recorded the highest enrollment of 256 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
