There were 538 students enrolled in Cross Roads ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.9% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.2% of them were girls, and 49.8% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 82.2% of the Cross Roads ISD total enrollment.

Cross Roads ISD roughly covers schools within Henderson County with its main office in Malakoff.

Among the three schools in Cross Roads ISD, Cross Roads Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 254 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
