CELEBRATING FORGOTTEN STAR BREWING CO.

______

HON. ILHAN OMAR

of minnesota

in the house of representatives

Friday, July 29, 2022

Ms. OMAR. Madam Speaker, I rise today to celebrate Forgotten Star Brewing Company for winning multiple awards at the 2022 U.S. Open Beer Championship. Forgotten Star received two gold medals and two silver medals and was recognized as one of America's Top Ten Breweries earlier this month.

Every year, hundreds of breweries around the country compete across 150 categories of beer. A panel of experts judge these submissions and names the country's best beers. Forgotten Star won gold medals for their Bonspiel Bock and Nut N' Honey Nut Ale, and they won silver medals for their Schwarzbier and Northstar Cream Ale. By winning these medals, they were also selected as one of the ten best breweries nationwide.

Forgotten Star Brewing Company was founded in November 2019 by Matt Asay and Andy Risvold, and Mr. Asay serves as Head Brewer. The brewery is located in the historic Northern Pump Company factory, which produced Navy ship guns during World War II. That company was one of only eight nationwide that received superior recognition from the U.S. federal government for ``Excellence in Production.'' Forgotten Star is proud to carry on their legacy of excellence.

Although I do not drink myself, I have deep appreciation for Forgotten Star's craft and artistry. My constituents tell me these awards are well-deserved, and I join them in celebrating Forgotten Star's success at the U.S. Open Beer Championship.
