State and local governments, educators, nonprofit organizations, and other agencies will be able to apply for law enforcement educational grants from the Governor’s Office.
“The goal is to improve public safety and support victims of crime by filling gaps in the region via funding that promotes innovative solutions to regional problems,” ETCOG’s Public Safety Director Stephanie Heffner said in a press release. “We help applicants understand what needs to go into their grant applications and what they have to track once they receive funding from the state, so we can successfully bring public safety projects to East Texas.”
The Criminal Justice Division and the Homeland Security Program will be held virtually. The Criminal Justice program includes general Victim Assistance, and the Direct Services Program. The program also funds groups that advocate against violence inflicted upon women.
Homeland Security programs include the State Homeland Security Program – Regular Projects and the State Homeland Security Program, which also includes the Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Activities.
