Limestone County has not lost a step due in sales tax revenue due to the COVID-19 economic shutdown, with all five towns reporting increases for tax collections for the past month over a year ago.
The Groesbeck Journal reported Groesbeck, Coolidge, Kosse and Thornton all had increases of 28% or more in June over the past year, with Mexia turning in an increase of 1.2%.
All five towns received an increase in sales tax allocations for the year as well.
Falling more in line with the state trend are Freestone County cities, where four of the five municipalities are reporting decreases for the year. Wortham, the exception, has received a 17% increase over last year to date.
