City of Athens issued the following announcement on Jan. 23.
On Friday, January 17, the Board of Directors of the Athens Municipal Water Authority appointed Mark Carroll to the Board. Mr. Carroll will fill the term Milburn Chaney vacated when he was sworn in as the interim Henderson County Precinct 4 Commissioner. Mr. Chaney had served in the position after being selected by Athens voters in May 2016. The unexpired term expires in May 2020.
Mr. Carroll has filed for the May 2, 2020, general election, to run for a full four-year term.
Mr. Carroll purchased his home in Athens in 2014. He resides at Lake Athens, in one of the two subdivisions on Lake Athens that are also in the City limits. Mr. Carroll is very active in the community of Athens, including serving as the Chairman of the City of Athens Planning and Zoning Commission.
